Race report for North West Tri, 16th September

It's quite a fitting end to the season for me this race, as it just
about signifies the end of our first entire year working together.
When I look back, I was two stones heavier than now, and I could
hardly be described as fit in any guise, so it's a great juncture to
look back at what we've achieved in this 1st year.

Firstly, I've got fit, much fitter than I've ever been before, and my
triathlon and 10k efforts this last few months show this all too
well. I've lost weight, two stone pretty much, and my body fat has
gone from around 25%, to 15% as well, (not quite there yet, but much
better). My blood general health has gone from being moderate to
excellent, with both my blood pressure and cholesterol measurements
coming back now as exceptional. I've completed two sprint triathlons,
having never been able to consider doing any of the individual events
before, never mind combined, and finally and most importantly, I'm
feeling alive, invigorated, and much happier with myself than I have
in a long, long time.

So onto the race on Sunday, just a quick re-cap of my last (and first
outing), I'd done the 500m Swim, 20K bike and 5K run in a combined
time of 1:21:40, which was an excellent result, one which I was more than happy with for my first effort. So 3 months later on, what did
we managed to knock off? Well, I'm amazed to say we knocked off a
quite simply stunning, 7:20 seconds. Swim time down from 12:40 to
11:01, Bike down from 40:10 to a 38:17 (29th quickest on the day), and
my best improvement on the run, from 28:36 down to 25:09. I've gone
from being 220th last time out, to 97th this time with a time of
1:14:27, which is both a credit to your training plans you set for me,
and of course the hard graft I've put in. I'd just like to say a
very, very big thanks to you, for your time, your efforts with your
help, Your motivations on those days when I've struggled a little,
your beasting sessions which all of your clients love so much I'm
sure, and to your inspiration you provide for us all with your own
efforts.

I look forward to a slightly easier winter than the Summer has been,
though I vow to come out stronger, fitter, leaner and better next
year, with a more comprehensive race plan, as well as my move up to
Olympic distances as well. Myself and the wife, wish you all the very
best at Ironman Hawaii this year, and am looking forward to kicking
your arse on the mountain bike over the winter!

And.
